Brightsign Notes
Requirements
Hardware:
- Brightsign player (e.g., Brightsign XT1144)
- MicroSD card
- Ethernet cable & local network w/DHCP (for initial setup and networked content updates)
- HDMI cable & display (for video output and setup)
Software:
- brightAuthor connected (called bA connected when installed)
Set up Brightsign player
- Insert MicroSD card into your computer
- Use BA Connected to format the MicroSD card for Brightsign
- Click Player Setup on home screen
- Fill out Name/Description
- Set time zone
- Choose Local Network (or Standalone if you definitely won't load content over network)
- Set network settings if needed (DHCP is default)
- Choose BrightsignOS update for the model of your player
- Save Setup to MicroSD card
- Eject MicroSD card and insert into Brightsign player
- You might need to power off & power on the player to boot from the card
- Connect player to display via HDMI
- The player should boot up, possibly multiple times as the OS is updated, and show a Brightsign logo on the display
Load content onto Brightsign player
- Click New Presentation
- Choose a name
- Choose a destination to save the presentation file (.bsp)
- Select target Brightsign player model, resolution, framerate, orientation
- Start
- Add Media
- Under the Media tab, click 📂 Open and select a folder with videos
- Click the Content tab, and there should be a list of media files in the bottom drawer
- Drag media files onto the window above
- Optionally, set any additional settings for the presentation on the right Presentation Settings panel
- For portrait videos, bottom left is for monitors that are rotated 90 degrees clockwise, bottom right is for monitors rotated 90 degrees counter-clockwise
- Click the 💾 Save button to save the presentation file
- Click the Publish button, which should bring up a schedule/calendar
- Select the network-connected devices on the left panel that should receive this presentation
- Make sure the Active all day every day option is selected on the right panel
- Click the Publish button again, and the presentation should be sent to the selected players over the network
- On the Brightsign player, after a few moments, the new presentation should start playing. This will happen much faster if the playlist has previously been sent to the player. Otherwise, the player might restart several times before it starts looping the content
